TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto invited along a number of Indonesian conglomerates to a business and investment forum followed by a luncheon at Lancaster House, London, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, local time.
The forum was hosted by the UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, which included delegations' profile introductions from the British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham), followed by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Following the introduction, a Q&A session between business players and President Prabowo was held. "During the session, President Prabowo listened to aspirations, views, and investment interests from several companies, while also giving responses to various issues and cooperation opportunities," the Presidential Secretariat said in a statement.
As seen from the Presidential Secretariat's social media releases, Prabowo appeared to be accompanied by several business actors, including Kadin chair Anindya Bakrie and head of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo), Shinta Kamdani.
Several business giants were also present, including: the President Director of PT Bumi Resources, Adika Nuraga Bakrie; the son of Djarum Group owner Robert Budi Hartono, Martin Hartono; the President Director of PT Medco Energi Internasional, Hilmi Panigoro; and the chair of Lippo Group, James Riady.
Prabowo attended the business and investment forum after meeting with the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his office, 10 Downing Street, London. During the meeting with Starmer, Prabowo expressed his appreciation for a maritime partnership between the two countries.
"I met with the CEO of Babcock. We are very excited to continue this maritime partnership. I think this will be very important and strategic for Indonesia. I believe this will be a crucial part of our maritime economic development," Prabowo said in his one-on-one meeting with Starmer.
During the meeting, Starmer also underscored the maritime ties between Indonesia and the UK. "Thank you also for the maritime agreement that we have signed, albeit virtually at the G20," he said, adding that the importance is measured through the number of jobs created in the country.
Starmer mentioned that he and Prabowo had a lot of topics to discuss. "Including education, which you were passionate about last time," he said.
