TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The intelligence agency of Iran claims to have obtained a large amount of strategic documents of Israel containing highly sensitive information. Among them are materials regarding Israeli nuclear facilities and military projects.
Based on the IRNA news agency's report on Saturday, June 6, 2025, Tehran obtained "a large amount of strategic documents with special sensitivity" related to Israel. Among the files were "thousands of documents related to the regime’s nuclear plans and facilities."
"Iran’s intelligence apparatus has obtained a vast quantity of strategic and sensitive information and documents belonging to the Zionist regime," said the government TV report, cited from Times of Israel. No evidence was provided to support the claim.
Although the exact timing of the document acquisition was not mentioned, the report indicated that it happened some time ago but was kept secret due to the need for secure data transfer to Iran.
"The size of the documents and the logistical challenges of safely moving the entire load into secure locations within Iran required full confidentiality during the operation," said the IRNA broadcaster, cited from Anadolu.
According to the report, the entire set of documents has successfully reached a "designated secure site" in Iran.
The volume of information obtained was reported to be so extensive that reviewing the documents, including accompanying photos and video files, would take a significant amount of time.
Although Iranian authorities have not disclosed how the documents were obtained or whether the breach occurred digitally or physically, the news is likely to escalate the already heightened tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
The disclosure comes amid escalating hostilities between the two longstanding rivals over the past several months. Israel has not officially responded to Iran's claim as of yet.
According to Tasnim, a semi-official Iranian media closely affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), intelligence information was gathered and transferred by Roy Mizrahi and Almog Atias, two Israelis who were arrested by Israeli police last May on suspicion of gathering intelligence information on behalf of Iran.
Based on a Times of Israel report, the two were arrested for gathering intelligence in the town of Kfar Ahim, home to Israeli Defense Minister Katz, in what officials described as the latest case in an extensive Iranian espionage campaign within Israel.
Mizrahi and Atias, both 24 years old and residents of Nesher near Haifa, were detained in late April after a joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the Israeli Police's Lahav 433 Major Crimes Unit.
Officials said Mizrahi had been in contact with Iranian agents throughout 2025 and carried out a series of security-related missions, some with Atias, fully aware that they were acting under Iran's direction.
One of the missions included moving a buried bag, believed to contain explosives, from one location to another at the instruction of Iranian operatives.
Mizrahi reportedly used a newly obtained phone and encrypted messaging applications to maintain secret communication with his contacts.
"This case joins a series of recent incidents that point to persistent efforts by hostile terrorist and intelligence entities to recruit Israeli citizens to carry out missions intended to harm the security of the State of Israel and its citizens," said a security official at that time.
In recent years, Iranian intelligence agents have stepped up efforts to recruit ordinary Israeli citizens as spies in exchange for money. Last December, police arrested nearly 30 Israeli citizens, mostly Jewish, for engaging in espionage activities on behalf of Iran.
In most cases, the suspects started by performing small and seemingly harmless tasks that gradually evolved into more serious offenses, such as intelligence gathering and planned assassinations.
