TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least 21 people were injured, including one in critical condition, after an Iranian missile strike hit Tel Aviv on Saturday, February 28, 2026. According to reports from the Yedioth Ahronoth daily via Anadolu, the city was rocked by explosions during this latest wave of Iranian attacks.
An Anadolu correspondent on the ground reported a massive blast in the Israeli capital following the hit. Large explosions were also heard across Tel Aviv as air raid sirens echoed throughout Jerusalem.
The Israeli military confirmed they had detected a fresh barrage of missiles launched from Iran. Residents were officially urged to seek shelter in protected areas immediately.
According to Anadolu, Israeli journalists shared footage showing widespread damage and major fires in Tel Aviv, even as strict censorship was imposed regarding specific casualties and target locations.
Earlier on Saturday morning, the United States and Israel conducted a joint operation against Iran. The strike was intended to neutralize threats posed by the Iranian regime, prompting Iran to respond by targeting Israeli and American bases with drones and missiles.
Israel has since declared a nationwide "special and immediate state of emergency."
In its response, Iran promised a "harsh" retaliation against the aggression, launching a series of strikes aimed at Israel and U.S. regional interests.
Meanwhile, the Israeli strike on Iran has reportedly led to the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian state media has since confirmed Khamenei’s passing.
