TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have admitted to shooting Palestinian civilians, killing five people in Gaza, as reported by ABC News and Al Jazeera on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a violation of the ceasefire that was newly agreed upon over the weekend.

The IDF claimed that "several suspects were identified crossing the yellow line and approaching IDF troops operating in the northern Gaza Strip, which constitutes a violation of the agreement."

The five Palestinians approached the forces in the Shejaiya neighborhood in the eastern part of the city of Gaza, according to the IDF.

"After multiple attempts to distance them, the suspects refused to comply, prompting troops to open fire to remove the threat," the IDF stated on social media.

A spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense refuted the IDF's claims, telling ABC News that the five individuals were killed within the designated safe yellow zone.

Sources from the Gaza Emergency Services also reported several unnamed Palestinian civilians were injured due to Israeli military firing in the Halawa area of Jabalia.

Meanwhile, intense clashes continued on Tuesday morning in the eastern part of Jabalia, in northern Gaza, as per Palestinian media reports.

The clashes were reported to involve security forces affiliated with the Hamas Interior Ministry and armed groups suspected to be supported by Israel.

Two-State Solution

Despite ongoing Israeli attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Gaza ceasefire agreement would bring "lasting peace" to the Middle East.

However, on Monday, Trump avoided discussing support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, stating that his current focus is on rebuilding the Gaza Strip.

"I'm talking about something very much different. We're talking about rebuilding Gaza," Trump told reporters on Air Force One while returning from Egypt, as quoted by Antara.

The statement came as Trump was asked to respond to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's comments calling for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

"I’m not talking about single state or double state or two state. We’re talking about the rebuilding of Gaza," Trump said.

Earlier on the same day, Trump and Sisi led a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, attended by over 20 world leaders, to sign the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

"A lot of people like the one-state solution. Some people like the two-state solution. We’ll have to see. I haven’t commented on that," Trump stated, adding that he would coordinate with several countries regarding the plans for Gaza.
