TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Israeli fighter jets launched airstrikes on several cities in eastern and southern Lebanon, during the mass funeral of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The strikes occurred despite an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. According to Anadolu Agency, Israel targeted the cities of Zrariyeh, Zibqin, Al-Qlaiaah, Jannata, Deir Qanoun Al Naher, and Maaroub in southern Lebanon.

National News Agency (NNA) Lebanon reported that a Syrian girl was injured near Al-Qlaiaah and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Additionally, airstrikes were carried out in the Brisa area of eastern Lebanon, though no casualties were reported in that attack

Israel's public broadcasting agency, KAN, also reported that Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles were flying over the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

However, Lebanese sources denied these claims, stating that it was the Lebanese military, not Israel, operating these unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Israeli military confirmed the attack. As reported by the Middle East Monitor, Israel claimed that the attack targeted Hezbollah military locations containing missile ammunition and other weapons in Baalbek and several other locations in southern Lebanon.

A military statement claimed that several rocket platforms were destroyed in the attack, coinciding with thousands of mourners at the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah and senior Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, Beirut.

The Israeli army continues to violate the ceasefire agreement from November 27, with over 1,000 reported violations by the Lebanese authorities. As a result, approximately 79 people have been killed and 276 others injured.

The funeral of Hezbollah's Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Beirut, was attended by millions of mourners. Along with Lebanese citizens, delegations from 79 countries, including notable figures from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, and others, were present.

According to Al-Manar TV affiliated with Hezbollah, masses had been flocking to the Lebanese capital since dawn. By 6:00, the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium was already full. The funeral began at 13:00 local time with a recitation of the Quran, followed by the national anthem and Hezbollah songs.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, Nasrallah's deputy, gave a speech before the procession to Nasrallah’s final resting place near Airport Road. Safieddine is set to be buried on Monday in his hometown of Deir Qanoun Al-Nahr in southern Lebanon.
