TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The families of Israeli hostages in Gaza on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “stop the killing and disappearance of the hostages.” This call comes after Israel launched the deadliest attack in the region since the ceasefire on 19 January.

“The families of the hostages demand a meeting this morning with the prime minister, the defense minister and the head of the negotiation team, in which they will be assured how the hostages will be protected from the military pressure and how they intend to bring them back,” said the Hostage Forum and Families of the Missing in a statement as quoted by Al Arabiya.

“The families of the hostages will demand: Stop the killing and disappearance of the hostages now! First, return them -- then everything else.”

The families of the prisoners staged a protest outside Netanyahu's office in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

Israel has vowed to continue the battle in Gaza under the pretext of the return of all hostages, as it unleashed the most intense attack since the start of the ceasefire.

“Families of hostages have been pleading for meetings with public officials responsible for the fate of their loved ones. Their pleas have gone unanswered,” the families said in a statement.

“Now it becomes clear -- the public officials did not meet with them because they were planning the explosion of the ceasefire, which could sacrifice their family members.”

Out of the 251 hostages captured during the Hamas attack in October 2023 that triggered the war, 58 are still held in Gaza, including 34 who, according to the Israeli military, have been killed.

Israel's attack on Tuesday, which occurred across Gaza, resulted in at least 326 deaths. The majority of the victims are Palestinian women and children.

The Gaza government media office added that the resumption of genocide in Gaza came alongside the blockade of humanitarian aid since 2 March and the total closure of crossings. This has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and deprived more than 2.4 million Palestinians of necessities.

The Gaza media office urged the international community, including the UN Security Council and human rights groups, to act immediately to ensure the end of the massacre in Gaza.
