TEMPO.COJakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that 125 neighborhood units (RT) and 14 road sections were inundated by floods as of Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. WIB. The flooding followed torrential rainfall that has lashed Jakarta and its satellite cities since Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Mohamad Yohan, Head of the BPBD Jakarta Data and Information Center, confirmed that hundreds of neighborhood units were submerged due to the intense precipitation. "The heavy rain hitting Jakarta and its surrounding areas has triggered several points of inundation," Yohan stated on Friday, January 23, 2026.

South Jakarta emerged as the hardest-hit region with 55 inundated neighborhood units. Among the affected areas were Petogogan, where 26 RTs saw water levels reach 30 centimeters; Ulujami, with 8 RTs submerged under up to 70 centimeters; and Pela Mampang, where 9 RTs faced depths of approximately 75 centimeters. Flooding in these districts is generally attributed to high rainfall coupled with the overflow of the Krukut, Pesanggrahan, and Mampang Rivers.

In West Jakarta, floods affected 38 RTs across 10 sub-districts. The most severe inundation was recorded in Rawa Buaya, where water levels reached 150 centimeters. Other impacted areas included Kedaung Kali Angke, Duri Kosambi, Kapuk, and Kedoya. Flooding here was primarily driven by heavy rain and the overflow of the Angke and Pesanggrahan Rivers.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta recorded 30 flooded RTs, notably in Cipinang Melayu, where 19 RTs saw water levels between 30 and 90 centimeters, and Kampung Melayu, where four RTs faced depths of one meter. In North Jakarta, two RTs in Kapuk Muara were also submerged under 40 centimeters of water.

The BPBD also noted that at least 14 road sections were flooded, including Jalan Daan Mogot at Kilometer 13, Jalan Srengseng Raya, Jalan Strategi Raya in Joglo, and Jalan Kebon Pala in East Jakarta. Water levels on some roads reached 65 centimeters, severely disrupting the flow of traffic.

The rising waters forced hundreds of residents to seek safety in various emergency shelters. In West Jakarta, evacuees were housed at the Al Khaeer Mosque, Kedaung Kali Angke, and the KS Tubun Rusunawa Hall. In Central Jakarta, residents took refuge in several Child-Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRA) and mosque halls in Karet Tengsin. Meanwhile, in East Jakarta, displaced residents gathered at the Al Muqorrobin Mosque in Cipinang Melayu.

The 14 inundated road sections and their respective conditions are as follows:

  1. Jalan Srengseng Raya, Srengseng, West Jakarta - Water level: 25 cm

  2. Jalan Daan Mogot KM 13 (Victoria/Glass Factory), Cengkareng Timur, West Jakarta - Water level: 30 cm
