TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Environmental Agency is deploying 2,906 cleaning service officers to maintain the city during the night before Eid al-Fitr and the Eid holiday that follows. The officers will be stationed at various locations, including temporary waste disposal sites (TPS), tourist attractions, and public areas.
The Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, stated that they have also prepared 89 units of automatic road sweepers, 35 bus toilets, and 20 portable toilets to support cleanliness operations during this period. "We are allocating approximately 70 officers in each district," Asep said in a written statement on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Asep also mentioned that waste transportation will be conducted before the day of Eid al-Fitr to empty the TPS. "On Eid al-Fitr day, street cleaning will be carried out, both manually and using road sweepers. Additionally, during the Eid holiday, sanitation management will be focused on tourist attractions such as Monas, Kota Tua, Ragunan, and even Ancol," he said.
Asep ensured that the service of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) will continue to operate during the Eid holiday. Furthermore, waste disposal for all Jakarta areas will be conducted to anticipate an increase in waste volume.
To support sanitation at various locations during Eid al-Fitr, the Environmental Agency will place portable toilets and bus toilets at tourist attractions, public cemeteries, homecoming posts, and prisons.
The Jakarta Environmental Agency also urges the public to support the 'Minimal Waste Homecoming' program by providing personnel and sanitation facilities at train stations, terminals, and ports. This program aims to reduce waste during the homecoming and return flow of Eid al-Fitr.
The Environmental Agency is coordinating with homecoming transportation managers to ensure routine waste transportation. This initiative aims to maintain cleanliness and minimize environmental impacts caused by neglected waste, especially from food leftovers and packaging.
"For the collective comfort ahead of the Eid homecoming, it is important to instill awareness in reducing waste during the journey. Let's celebrate Eid al-Fitr with abundant blessings without leaving an excessive amount of waste," said Asep.
