TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian railway company PT KAI currently offers special deals for passengers departing before the peak Eid homecoming season. The promo will apply to departures on March 18-19, 2025.
The President Director of PT KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, claimed that this promo is a form of appreciation for its customers as well as part of the efforts to boost occupancy. "We hope people can leverage the opportunity and get tickets at a more affordable price," said Didiek when met at the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Ministry on Tuesday, February 25.
KAI offers two special price schemes for prospective passengers. The first scheme is the regular promo, where customers can get a 20 percent discount off the normal fare. This promo is valid for ticket purchases on March 18-19, 2025.
Meanwhile, the second scheme is a flash sale, offering tickets at a super cheap rate. Flash sale tickets can only be reserved through the Access by KAI application. KAI has prepared 2,000 tickets for this flash sale program. “Just wait, we will run surprise flash sales,” he said.
Overall, KAI has prepared a total of 38,000 seats for this promo program, subject to change based on ticket availability. This promo is expected to be an alternative for people who want to travel before the peak of the Eid homecoming rush.
Previously, KAI set the period for the Eid holiday homecoming transport in 2025 for 22 days, starting from March 21 to April 11, 2025. During this period, there are several national holidays that have the potential to increase the volume of public travel, including the Saka New Year on March 28, the Holy Day of Nyepi on March 29, as well as Eid al-Fitr, which falls on March 31 to April 1.
With this ticket promo, KAI hopes to provide an opportunity for people to travel at a more affordable price before the peak of the Eid homecoming season. Discounted tickets can be reserved through the KAI Access app, KAI's official website, and various other official sales channels.
