TEMPO.CO, Batam - The Ramadan bazaar at Dang Anom Park in Batam, Riau Islands has become a popular destination for international tourists, particularly visitors from South Korea. On Tuesday, March 6, dozens of foreign tourists arrived at the Batam Wonder Food and Art Ramadan market aboard tour buses.
Located along Simpang Jam Road in Batam City, the market is bustling with vendors selling a variety of traditional iftar (fast-breaking) snacks.
Dressed casually, many tourists were seen strolling through the market, observing the goods on display, and chatting in Korean. Some stopped to interact with vendors, showing interest in the unique offerings.
Batam’s Head of Tourism, Ardiwinata, confirmed that the visitors were part of a South Korean tour group. “Yes, they were guests from a travel agency, arriving by tour bus,” he said on Wednesday, March 5. According to him, around 30 Korean tourists explored the market.
A Culinary Haven with 70 MSME Vendors
Ardi explained that the tourists were drawn to the Ramadan market because of its unique atmosphere, featuring a wide range of food and cultural performances. The market hosts 70 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with new vendors joining daily.
A variety of traditional dishes from different regions are available, including sate, pempek, bakwan Melayu, and bakso. The market also offers seating areas for visitors, children’s play zones, and a stage for live Malay music performances and other entertainment.
The Dang Anom Ramadan bazaar will remain open until March 23, 2025, a week before Eid.
