TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested several individuals who claimed to be employees of the anti-corruption agency. KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto stated that these fake KPK employees were known to have attempted to extort money from certain parties.

"The KPK has arrested several individuals who are suspected of claiming to be KPK employees," said Tessa Mahardhika in a statement on Wednesday night, February 5, 2025.

Several fake employees were previously investigated at the KPK before being followed up by other law enforcement agencies.

Tessa did not provide details about the amount of money and the parties who were victims of extortion by these fake KPK employees. "Further updates will be provided after the questioning process is completed," she said.

One of the individuals involved in the alleged extortion under the guise of a KPK employee was a man with glasses who arrived at the Red and White Building of the KPK at around 7:33 p.m. Jakarta time. The man walked barefoot, wearing a black jacket with his hands handcuffed.

According to information received by Tempo, the fake KPK employee has been taken to the Jakarta Central Police Station for further legal proceedings.
