TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Lampung Regional Police (Polda Lampung) has handed over the case files of the shooting of three police officers who were killed during a raid on a cockfighting gambling den to the Military Police Detachment (Denpom) II/3 in Lampung.
The General Crime Directorate of the Lampung Regional Police, Commissioner General Pahala Simanjuntak, stated that this step was taken as a form of commitment to expedite the case resolution.
"We will hand over this case, which is the shooting of three police members who died in the line of duty," said Commissioner General Pahala Simanjuntak at the Lampung Regional Police Headquarters on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Pahala explained that they had taken a series of steps to uncover this case, starting from the crime scene investigation, victim autopsies, witness examinations, and forensic analysis of the evidence. "We have conducted forensic laboratory examinations of the findings at the crime scene and the projectiles found in the victims' bodies," he said.
The handover of this case is expected to expedite the legal process for the shooters. The Lampung Regional Police emphasized its commitment to resolving this case transparently.
A joint investigation team of the Indonesian National Army (TNI)-Police finally designated Corporal Basar as the main perpetrator in the shooting of three police members during the cockfighting gambling den raid in Way Kanan, Lampung. The suspect's designation was announced during a press conference held at the Lampung Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Acting Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Police Military Center, Major General Eka Wijaya Permana, revealed that based on the investigation results and witness statements, Corporal Basar admitted to shooting the victims. "The shooter is Corporal B, and he has admitted to shooting the 3 victims," said Eka.
The three victims who died in this incident are the late AKP Anumerta Lusiyanto (Negara Batin Police Chief), Aipda Anumerta Petrus Apriyanto (Negara Batin Police Non-Commissioned Officer), and Briptu Anumerta M Ghalib Surya Ganta (Criminal Investigation Unit Non-Commissioned Officer of the Way Kanan Police Resort). The shooting occurred during the operation to disband illegal cockfighting gambling at Letter S register 44 in Way Kanan, Lampung.
In addition to Corporal Basar, investigators also designated several other suspects, including Sergeant Major Lubis, who is suspected of involvement in the incident, and Bripda Kapri Sucipto, a member of the Mobile Brigade of the South Sumatra Regional Police, who was found to have been acquainted with the perpetrator since 2018 and was present at the crime scene. Bripda Kapri is even suspected of disseminating information about cockfighting gambling on social media.
In this case, the suspects are charged with various articles. Corporal B is charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder and Article 338 regarding murder, as well as Article 1 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning illegal firearm possession. The maximum punishment that can be imposed on the perpetrator is the death penalty or life imprisonment. Meanwhile, Sergeant Major YHL and Officer Bripda K are charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code regarding gambling.
