
TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Landslides and floods struck several areas in Sukabumi Regency on Thursday night, March 6, 2025. According to the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the disasters affected multiple districts, including Kadudampit, Curugkembar, Simpenan, Waluran, Bantargadung, Warungkiara, Sagaranten, Lengkong, and Jampangtengah.
West Java BPBD Head Anne Hermadiane Adnan stated that heavy and continuous rainfall triggered the landslides and floods.
"Relentless rain pounded Sukabumi Regency and City since Thursday night, causing flooding and landslides," Anne said in a statement on Friday, March 7, 2025.
BPBD reported one fatality, a child identified by the initials NS, while seven landslide victims remain missing. The search team is still looking for two victims in Simpenan District, three in Lengkong District, and two in Palabuantratu District.
The landslides in Sukabumi Regency damaged 10 houses, including five with severe damage. There were also 11 public facilities affected by the ground subsidence. A total of 204 residents from 116 families suffered losses due to the disaster. Of this number, 159 people had to evacuate.
The provincial BPBD team and the Sukabumi BPBD are still intensifying emergency response efforts, searching for local residents still missing, and evacuating flood-affected victims.
"Residents must remain vigilant against the potential for subsequent disasters and promptly report emergency conditions," Anne said.
