Light Rain Expected Across Greater Jakarta Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has alerted the residents of Jakarta and its surrounding areas to be cautious of the possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds during the afternoon to evening today, Friday, January 9, 2026.

Based on the 24-hour weather forecast by BMKG, overcast conditions are expected to occur in most parts of the Greater Jakarta area from the early morning to morning, around 01:00-07:00 local time. During this period, light rain is likely to fall in several areas of North Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and Tangerang Regency. Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rain is possible in some parts of the Kepulauan Seribu area.

Moving into the midday until around 13:00, the BMKG predicts light rain showers in some areas of Kepulauan Seribu, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta, as well as in the regions of Bekasi Regency and City, Tangerang Regency and City, South Tangerang City, Bogor Regency and City, and Depok City. The rain will be accompanied by lightning.

During the late afternoon approaching evening, rain is expected to affect most parts of the Greater Jakarta area. Some areas may experience light rain, while moderate-intensity rain is likely to occur in certain parts of North Jakarta, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, as well as Bogor Regency and City.

BMKG records the humidity in the Greater Jakarta area to be in the range of 70-92 percent, with air temperatures ranging from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the air temperature in the Bogor Regency and City area is predicted to be lower, ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.
