TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto instructed the Jaya/Jayakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya/Jayakarta) to deploy personnel to conduct security patrols at vital strategic locations and foreign embassies in Jakarta. This order was contained in Telegram Number TR/283/2026 concerning the declaration of alert status I for all defense units in Indonesia.

"Kodam Jaya/Jayakarta is to conduct patrols at strategic locations and embassies and anticipate developments in the situation to maintain a conducive situation in the Jakarta area," stated the fourth point of the telegram.

The issuance of this telegram amidst the escalating conflict in the Middle East was confirmed by the Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), Lieutenant General Yudi Abdimantyo. The letter, signed on March 1, 2026, contained seven orders addressed to various military units.

According to Yudi, the orders were intended to anticipate the domestic security situation following the United States and Israel's attack on Iran. The attack triggered a retaliatory attack from Iran, which launched attacks on several US military bases in Middle Eastern countries.

As a result, these retaliatory attacks impacted the security of Indonesian citizens in the region. "The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), as the vanguard in safeguarding the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), must anticipate every development in the global, regional, and national situation," Yudi told Tempo on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Tempo contacted the Commander of the Jayakarta Regional Military Command (Pangdam Jaya), Major General Deddy Suryadi, and the Head of Information for Kodam Jaya, Colonel Inf. Arief Wicaksana, to confirm the implementation of security measures at the embassy and other areas in Jakarta as instructed by the Commander. However, neither has responded.

In addition to deploying the Pangdam Jaya, the telegram stated that the Commander also requested the TNI intelligence unit to conduct early detection and prevent the presence of groups at vital and strategic locations and embassies, as well as to anticipate developments in the situation to maintain stability in the Jakarta area.
