TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has ensured that all violations of procedures that harm consumers of MinyaKita will be dealt with. The police have formed a Food Task Force, led by Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf, to investigate the viral packaged cooking oil brand MinyaKita.
"Yesterday, we went to three locations, conducted investigations, and are likely to enforce the law. Indeed, we found that the contents did not match the one-liter packaging," Sigit said when met at the Mutiara STIK Police Auditorium, Jakarta, on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Not only is it not in accordance with the measurement, but the police also found that products labeled MinyaKita were actually fake. Sigit promised to prosecute all legal violations related to the issue of packaged cooking oil.
"Some are using the MinyaKita label, but it is actually fake. So, we are processing all of them. It will be officially released by the Food Task Force," said the four-star police general.
The Food Task Force of the Indonesian National Police has conducted an investigation into the MinyaKita issue. The Chair of the Food Task Force, Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf, mentioned that the investigation was a follow-up after finding inconsistencies in MinyaKita products during an inspection at the Lenteng Agung Market, South Jakarta.
Helfi mentioned the names of three producers, namely PT Artha Eka Global Asia located in Depok, West Java; the Integrated Cooperatives of MSME Producers Nusantara located in Kudus, Central Java; and PT Tunas Agro Indolestari located in Tangerang, Banten.
"Measurements were taken of three MinyaKita brands produced by three different producers, and it was found that the sizes did not match the ones stated on the packaging. The interim measurement results indicated that although the label states 1 liter, it actually only contains 700-900 milliliters," he said, as quoted from Antara, on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
The tested samples from producers PT Artha Eka Global Asia and the Integrated Cooperatives of MSME Producers Nusantara are 1-liter MinyaKita bottles, while the sample from PT Tunas Agro Indolestari is a 2-liter pouch of MinyaKita.
Prior to this, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman also made a surprise inspection at the Lenteng Agung Market, South Jakarta, to examine the reports of MinyaKita not being in accordance with the measurements.
During the inspection, packaged cooking oil with the MinyaKita brand that did not comply with the regulations and was above the highest retail price (HET) was found. The oil was produced by PT Artha Eka Global Asia, the Integrated Cooperatives of MSME Producers Nusantara, and PT Tunas Agro Indolestari.
In response to this finding, the Minister emphasized that such practices are very detrimental to the public and cannot be tolerated. The Minister requested that companies proven to have committed violations be immediately prosecuted and closed.
"I have coordinated with the Chief of Criminal Investigation and the Food Task Force. If there are proven violations, these companies must be closed and their permits revoked. There is no room for business actors who intentionally seek profit in a way that harms the people," said Andi Amran.
