Transportation Readiness and Safety

During the Coordination Meeting for the Readiness of Eid al-Fitr 2025 Transportation across Sectors at the Police Science College (STIK) in Jakarta, on Monday, March 10, 2025, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi revealed that they have various transport facilities in place in anticipation of the influx of homecomers.

The prepared transportation facilities include 30,451 bus units in 115 terminals, 772 sea vessels in 264 ports, 404 aircraft in 60 airports, 2,550 locomotives and trains, and 187 ferry vessels in 14 cross-sea ports.

Based on a survey by the Transportation Policy Agency, the potential movement of the public during the Eid al-Fitr 2025 holiday is predicted to reach 146.48 million people, or about 52 percent of Indonesia's total population. The peak of the homecoming exodus is predicted to occur on H-3 (March 28, 2025), while the peak of the return exodus is on H+5 (April 6, 2025). "This is just a prediction, it could be higher. In 2024, the initial prediction was 71.7 percent or 193.6 million people, but the actual number reached 242 million," said Dudy.

Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that 164,268 joint personnel from the National Police, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and relevant agencies will be deployed to secure the homecoming exodus. They will be stationed at 2,894 security posts and various other strategic points.
