TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - More than 14 million people have visited Nabawi Mosque (the Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina in the first half of Ramadan 2025, as reported by the general authority for the care of the affairs of Masjidil Haram (the Grand Mosque) in Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
The report also mentions that 1,217,143 people have visited the tomb of Prophet Muhammad and his two companions, Abu Bakar Al-Siddiq and Umar bin Khattab, in Nabawi Mosque, during the same period.
In addition, 223,742 men and 155,630 women were granted permission to perform worship in the Raudhah of Nabawi Mosque.
According to the report, 4.5 million sets of iftar meals have been distributed, and 3,650 tons of Zamzam water have been consumed in the first half of Ramadan this year. Furthermore, 422 samples of Zamzam water have been tested, and more than 81,000 liters of disinfectants have been used in Nabawi Mosque for cleaning and hygiene purposes.
The authorities also recorded over 18,000 people paying a visit to the exhibits and museums in Nabawi Mosque, and more than 51,000 people have benefited from its library services.
Nabawi Mosque also provides wheelchair services for over 250,000 visitors, lends 50,000 chairs to the elderly, and offers mobility carts for over 20,000 visitors.
Regarding mosque guide services, Nabawi Mosque provides spatial orientation assistance to 47,761 visitors, religious guidance to 45,000 visitors, and multilingual on-site communication services to 22,000 people.
The authorities also noted that the main prayer hall of Nabawi Mosque had an occupancy rate of 93 percent, over 80 percent in the outdoor area, and 33 percent on the mosque’s roof thus far.
The services for Nabawi Mosque visitors are supported by 22,589 volunteers, and the mosque management also distributed 600,000 parcels to the visitors, as reported by the authorities.
