TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) assesses that the crimes allegedly conducted by Ngada Police Chief, Pol. Superintendent (AKBP), Fajar Widyadharma Lukman Sumaatmaja, constitute a new form of human trafficking. The police chief allegedly created sexual abuse materials of three minors and distributed them to foreign porn sites.
“This is clearly a gross criminal act, especially as it's a form of exploitation for the sake of money, which constitutes a new or different form of human trafficking,” said the Chairperson of KPAI, Ai Maryati Solihah, as quoted from Antara, Monday, March 10, 2025.
The suspended police chief in an NTT regency allegedly sexually abused three children, aged 14, 12, and a three-year-old toddler. Not only that, AKBP Fajar recorded his assault and sent the videos to a porn site in Australia.
According to Ai, human trafficking does not only extend to the act of buying and selling people, but also sending sexual abuse materials to porn sites with the purpose of gaining economic benefits. Therefore, Ai reckons the investigation must consider the possibility whether the offender is connected with the production network of child sexual abuse materials to be distributed to pornography sites instead of posting them by himself.
The Chairperson of the National Commission on Violence Against Women, Andy Yentriyani, strongly condemns the act of sexual violence committed by the Ngada Police Chief AKBP Fajar Widyadharma Lukman Sumaatmaja against the children.
“All parties must ensure the Law on Sexual Violence Crime is applied optimally in this case,” she said. The commission also demands a harsh punishment for the sexual abuse offender, and for the government to engage in systematic efforts to prevent recurring crimes in the future.
If you experience, witness, or know somebody who has experienced sexual harassment or sexual abuse, you may report it anonymously through the SAPA 129 call center.
