TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - OpenAI released GPT-4.5 on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This latest version of ChatGPT offers a more natural interaction with humans and a better understanding of the user's intent due to improved writing, programming capabilities, and handling of practical issues.
"GPT4.5 has a better understanding of what humans mean and interprets subtle cues or implicit expectations with greater nuance and 'EQ'," wrote OpenAI on its official website.
According to OpenAI, GPT-4.5 was trained using Microsoft's Azure AI supercomputer. This training has produced a model with broader knowledge and deeper understanding, resulting in reduced hallucinations and higher reliability across various topics.
Based on comparisons with previous versions of ChatGPT, OpenAI found that GPT-4.5 outperformed GPT-4o, OpenAI o1, and OpenAI o3-mini. GPT-4.5's accuracy in answering complex questions is 62.5 percent, surpassing GPT-4o's 38.2 percent.
Furthermore, the rate of hallucinatory answers is the lowest with GPT-4.5 at only 37.1 percent, while GPT-4o is at 61.8 percent. Even the OpenAI o3-mini version scored higher at 80.3 percent.
OpenAI is also developing new techniques for GPT-4.5 that can scale up training models to be larger and more advanced using data from smaller models.
"These techniques improve GPT4.5’s steerability, understanding of nuance, and natural conversation," wrote the company.
According to OpenAI, this latest version does not require thinking before responding, which is one of the things that sets it apart from OpenAI o1. GPT-4.5 is also more intelligent than OpenAI o1 and OpenAI o3-mini.
GPT-4.5 has access to the latest information through search, supports file and image uploads, and can use a canvas for writing and coding. However, GPT-4.5 currently does not support multimodal features such as voice mode, video, and screen sharing in ChatGPT.
To use this new version, users need to subscribe to ChatGPT Pro. The use of this latest version is accessible via mobile and desktop.
"We will begin rolling out to Plus and Team users next week, then to Enterprise and Edu users the following week."
