TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The youth group called Pandawara Group constantly complained about the obstacles in the licensing process to clean up trash in several rivers. They raised complaints when discussing environmental issues with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
"Licensing issues. Because every trash that we collect from the river is in large quantities. So, we have to throw it with a permit," said Pandawara member, Gilang Rahma, after meeting Prabowo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
In addition to the permit issue, Gilang said they conveyed several difficulties to Prabowo. However, Gilang was not willing to disclose them. What is certain, Gilang said, Prabowo wants to help with the issue.
"Perhaps there are some things that could provide more assistance for us in the field. Maybe we can't mention them," he said.
Gilang said their group and the government plan to create a movement to address the trash issue from upstream to downstream. This movement aims to solve the trash problem completely. "This movement is planned to be carried out throughout Indonesia," he said.
According to Gilang, Prabowo also asked Pandawara to continue cleaning up the trash and advised them not to give up easily.
The Pandawara Group is a youth group that is active in cleaning up the environment and speaking out about garbage issues. They are known for their tangible actions in cleaning up rivers and beaches, and also their creative content on social media.
