TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An internal memo containing 10 directives for personnel of the Central Java Police circulated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The unsigned message was distributed via WhatsApp by the Chief of the Internal Security Subdivision under the Professional Standards and Security Division.
The memo instructed officers on how to respond if they were questioned in the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) corruption investigation being handled by the Attorney General's Office (AGO). Police personnel summoned by prosecutors were required to be accompanied by legal or institutional representatives. If questioning was unavoidable, it had to take place only at their respective district police headquarters.
Public Relations Division Chief at the Central Java Police Sr. Comr. Artanto confirmed the existence of the circular. However, he denied reports that the National Police had prohibited its members from being questioned by prosecutors. Such questioning, he said, was permissible as long as it followed proper procedures. "We respect the ongoing legal process. If any of our personnel are questioned or asked to provide information, they must still be accompanied," he said.
The directive circulated after the AGO intensified its investigation into alleged corruption in the free nutritious meal (MBG) program in early June 2026. Prosecutors also began investigating allegations of the sale of service locations for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). Some of the kitchens under scrutiny were allegedly affiliated with National Police personnel.
