TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Sulawesi Regional Police seized 24 kilograms of methamphetamine, or crystal meth, from a Malaysia-Indonesia drug ring. Head of the Public Relations Division of the Central Sulawesi Police, High Commissioner Djoko Wienarto, said they also arrested three suspected couriers.
Djoko said the drug ring was revealed after police initially arrested a man with the initials MZ.
“This case was revealed after MZ was first arrested with evidence of 4 kg of crystal meth in Watusampu Village, Ulujadi District, Tuesday, April 8, 2025,” Djoko said through an official statement received by Tempo on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
MZ then told the police the names of two other colleagues with the initials AM and RO. The Central Sulawesi Police Drug Investigation Directorate then arrested AM and RO on April 21, 2025. From their hands, police confiscated 20 kilograms of crystal meth, making a total of 24 kilograms of drugs seized from this ring.
“The 20 kilograms of methamphetamine came from Malaysia and was to be distributed in Palu on the orders of a woman with the initials FT,” Djoko said.
The Central Sulawesi Police's Director of Drug Investigation, High Commissioner Pribadi Sembiring, added that they are currently hunting for two other ring members. Apart from FT, police are also hunting for a Palu resident with the initials AS who is said to be the drug owner. AS, according to him, is also the mastermind of the Malaysia-Indonesia drug network.
In addition to confiscating 24 kilograms of methamphetamine, the Central Sulawesi Police also confiscated other evidence from the perpetrators, namely one car, sacks, cellular phones, and two bags. Pribadi said the police are still looking into the drug ring.
