TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his warm greetings to all Muslim citizens of Indonesia as they begin the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized that this month should serve as a valuable time to reinforce the bonds of community.
"Happy fasting to all Muslim brothers and sisters in Indonesia," Prabowo shared in a post on the Indonesian President's Instagram account, @presidenrepublikindonesia, on Friday, February 28, 2025.
The nation's leader encouraged those observing the fast to deepen their devotion and nurture a stronger sense of togetherness. "For a more advanced Indonesia," he added.
The Indonesian government announced that the first day of Ramadan 1446 Hijri falls on Saturday, March 1, 2025, following a private isbat session held at the H.H. Rasjidi Auditorium of the Religious Affairs Ministry in Central Jakarta on Friday afternoon, February 28, 2025.
"The result of the session last night is that the first Ramadan will be tomorrow, God willing, on March 1, 2025, which corresponds to the 1st Ramadan 1446 Hijri," stated Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar during a press conference at the Ministry of Religious Affairs building in Central Jakarta, February 28, 2025.
