TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is grateful for the Indonesian National Team's 1-0 victory against Bahrain in the ongoing third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He believes the players have fought hard.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for preparing the national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. "Alhamdulillah (praise be to God). Our national team has succeeded, their efforts were quite good, they fought hard," said Prabowo after directly witnessing the match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, quoted from Antara.
Prabowo believes that the victory over Bahrain opens up the opportunity for Indonesia to advance to the next stage. He hopes the Garuda squad can consistently display their best performance and qualify for the 2026 World Cup. "If we had lost earlier, we would have been out. But this means we have a chance, keep moving forward. God willing (to enter the World Cup). Good, good. I think we have a fair chance," he said.
Prabowo directly watched the Indonesia vs. Bahrain match at the Bung Karno Main Stadium. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party was also seen cheering when Oleh Romeny scored a goal in the 24th minute. Prior to this, President Prabowo also provided motivation to the Indonesian national team before the match against Bahrain. Prabowo visited the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, where the players were staying.
The Indonesian national team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bahrain in the eighth match of Group C in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone. With this victory, Indonesia remains in fourth place in the temporary standings of Group C with nine points, four points behind Australia in second place and one point behind Saudi Arabia in third place.
On the other hand, Bahrain's defeat keeps them in fifth place in the temporary standings of Group C with six points, level with China at the bottom of the table.
