TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold a bilateral meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025. This bilateral meeting was held after Erdogan's first visit to Indonesia since Prabowo became President of the Republic of Indonesia. Erdogan visited Indonesia on February 11-12, 2025.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, said that President Prabowo will hold a bilateral meeting with President Erdogan today at the Bogor Presidential Palace.

"As part of a series of events, the state visit will be closed with a state luncheon held in the courtyard of the Bogor Presidential Palace," Yusuf said in his official statement, Monday, February 10, 2025.

Last night, Prabowo welcomed Erdogan and his wife directly at the Halim Perdanakusumah Air Force Base, East Jakarta. Yusuf said that President Prabowo is very close to President Erdogan. So he directly picked up Erdogan and his wife, Emine, on the Halim Perdanakusumah runway.

"This is a form of his respect for President Erdogan. President Prabowo even accompanied President Erdogan in one car to his place to spend the night," said Yusuf in his official statement, Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

President Prabowo directly greeted President Erdogan as soon as the Turkiye Presidential entourage plane landed at Halim Perdanakusumah at 18:35 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). Shortly after landing, rain poured down on the airport.

Prabowo walked directly to the steps of the Boeing 747-8I Boeing TC-TRK aircraft in red and white with the crescent moon and star emblem of the Turkish flag. In fact, he walked accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, and Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, in the pouring rain without an umbrella.

"Assalamualaikum (peace be upon you), how are you?" Erdogan greeted Prabowo.

Prabowo also introduced his ministers and the Turkish contingent in Indonesia to Erdogan and Emine. The three of them then walked along the red carpet accompanied by welcoming troops. Erdogan even held an umbrella over Prabowo as he walked to the car.

The three of them stopped briefly in front of the media crew. Prabowo and Erdogan waved to the journalists' cameras in front of them. Then, the three of them immediately got into their respective cars.

The Turkish President's motorcade was seen escorted by 17 motorcyclists from the Military Police to the hotel where he was staying during his working visit to Indonesia.

This is Erdogan's 8th visit to Indonesia since serving as prime minister and president of Turkey. The last time, Erdogan was in Indonesia was to attend the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.
