TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto reaffirms Indonesia's inclination towards peace over chaos, during his address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

According to Prabowo, peace and stability is a "long and arduous" journey, yet Indonesia stays focused on harmonious relationships. Indonesia, he says, seeks to be a friend to all with no hostility against other parties.

"A thousand friends [are] too few for us, one enemy too many," Prabowo says, as quoted from the WEF official live broadcast.

Prabowo also expresses his hope to become a good neighbor to friendly nations, assuring that Indonesia works to become a "good, responsible citizen of the world" that protects the environment.

"We must not destroy nature. We must live with nature. We must maintain and be a part of a future full of hope," the president adds.

Prabowo remarks that the aforementioned hope must be "grounded in credibility," good public policy implementation, and sustainable growth with equity.

He calls for improving the quality of life for all. "To live in peace, freedom, friendship, tolerance, coexistence, and cooperation. For all races, all ethnicities, all religions," he says.

"Let us continue our pursuit of justice for all, security and freedom for all."

The World Economic Forum is a nonprofit international multi-stakeholder organization that promotes cooperation among global leaders to address world challenges through cross-sectoral dialogue and collaboration.

The WEF Annual Meeting 2026 raises the theme "A Spirit of Dialogue," emphasizing the importance of open and collaborative dialogue amidst economic uncertainty and global geopolitical dynamics.

During the forum, leaders of countries and other key figures also delivered special addresses. Besides Prabowo Subianto, some of them include French President Emmanuel Macron, U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Argentine President Javier Milei, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
