TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several mall managers in the city of Solo, Central Java, confirmed that a video containing various claims of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's government achievements had been shown in the cinemas or Cinema XXI located in those malls. However, the video is no longer showing.
The Deputy Director of Operations at Solo Paragon Mall, Veronica Lahji, stated that the XXI in Solo Paragon Mall had shown the video as an advertisement. "Yes, Cinema XXI at Solo Paragon Mall has shown the advertisement. However, it has now been taken down," said Veronica in Solo on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The screening of Prabowo's video just before the start of the film in the cinemas received negative sentiment on social media. As a result, the audience was invited to enter the cinema 15 minutes after the scheduled screening time. The call to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled screening time of the main film in cinemas also gained a lot of support from netizens.
Veronica revealed that the video was not shown every day. "It's not shown every day. But it has been shown at Paragon," she said.
The Public Relations of Neo Solo Grand Mall (SGM), Elvira Dyahajeng Syavala, also confirmed that Grand XXI at Neo SGM had screened the video. "XXI Neo SGM had screened the video as a promotion for government programs," she said.
Elvira explained that the screening of the video has been suspended or withdrawn from the XXI cinema. "It was briefly screened, but the material has been withdrawn," she said.
When asked about the screening of the video and the last time it was shown, the mall managers were unaware of the details. "Information from the XXI Area Manager said the video has been withdrawn, so it's not being shown here (SGM). I only got that information," she said.
A Solo resident, Anton, said he had seen the Prabowo video shown before the screening of a film at XXI Neo SGM around early August 2025. "Yes, I had watched President Prabowo Subianto's video before the film started," he said.
The XXI Area Manager for Solo, Tri Pramono, confirmed that the Prabowo video had been screened at various XXI cinemas in Solo, such as at Neo Solo Grand Mall and Solo Paragon, before the film screenings. However, it is no longer being shown. "The presidential video is no longer being shown, and the material has also been withdrawn," Tri said through a WhatsApp message sent to Tempo on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Tri was not sure when the video was shown or when it stopped being shown. He had only been assigned to Solo in September 2025. "I stayed at Grand (Neo Solo Grand Mall) in early September, and the material is no longer there," he said.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that screening Prabowo's video in cinemas across the country just before a film starts is common. According to him, using public media as a means of conveying a message is not considered odd.
"As long as it does not violate the rules and does not disturb the comfort and beauty, it is a common thing," said Prasetyo in his written statement on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
