TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto undertook a state visit to Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025. Accompanying the President on this trip were several members of his Red and White Cabinet.
The accompanying officials included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhaimin Iskandar, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, and Manpower Minister Abdul Kadir Karding.
The presidential aircraft departed for Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan at 07:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Present at the President's departure to Brunei Darussalam were high-ranking officials, including the Commander of the Jayakarta Military Regional Command, Major General Rafael Granada Baay; the Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Inspector General Karyoto; and the Commander of the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, First Marshal Erwin Sugiandi.
"President Prabowo will be welcomed in a state reception hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah at the Nurul Iman Palace in Bandar Seri Begawan," said Yusuf Permana, the Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, in a written statement released on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Furthermore, President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with delegations from both nations. The visit will conclude with a state luncheon hosted by the Sultan in honor of President Prabowo.
During the visit, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will bestow upon President Prabowo Brunei Darussalam's highest honor, the "Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati" (D.K.).
"The bestowal of the Highest Honor of Brunei Darussalam is a mark of the highest respect from the Brunei Sultanate to a head of state and global leader who is recognized for their contributions to fostering stronger cooperation with Brunei Darussalam," Yusuf explained.
Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam have maintained diplomatic relations for over four decades. Yusuf noted that the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on this day is expected to create broader opportunities for collaboration between the two countries across various strategic sectors.
