TEMPO.COJakartaThe national teams of Saudi Arabia and Qatar secured tickets to the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing the last match of the fourth round of the Asian Qualifiers with positive results in the early hours of Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Arab Saudi secured the top spot in Group B after drawing 0-0 against Iraq at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.

This result left both teams with four points, but The Green Falcons had a better goal difference. With this outcome, Iraq will have to proceed to the fifth round and will face the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the runner-up of Group A, in the upcoming November.

In the match against Iraq, Saudi Arabia dominated in front of their supporters. Saleh Abu Al-Shamat's opportunity in the 13th minute and Saud Abdulhamid's shot in the early second half did not find the target. Iraq pressed towards the end of the match, but goalkeeper Nawaf Alaqidi made an important save in extra time to secure a goalless draw.

Qatar Locks Spot with Victory Over UAE

From Group A, Qatar secured a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 2-1 victory against the United Arab Emirates at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Al Rayyan. This win allowed The Maroons to finish at the top of the group with four points, one point ahead of UAE.

Qatar opened the scoring with Boualem Khoukhi's header in the 49th minute, capitalizing on Akram Afif's free-kick. Afif also set up the second goal, scored by Pedro Miguel in the 74th minute.

Qatar played with ten men after Tarek Salman received a red card following a VAR review. UAE narrowed the gap through Sultan Adill in the 98th minute, but the goal was not enough to change the result. Qatar won 2-1 and advanced directly to the final round.
