TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will fully support the resolution adopted by the Arab League concerning Gaza. The Arab League meeting, held in Cairo, Egypt, convened leaders from Arab nations to address the initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which aimed to transform Gaza into the 'Middle East Riviera'.
Al Arabiya reported that Mohammed bin Salman also convened a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to discuss the Gaza situation.
According to the Saudi Press news agency, the Saudi Arabian cabinet meeting emphasized that the people of Palestine possess the right to self-determination and to secure their legitimate rights. Palestinians have the right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Saudi Arabian Cabinet also strongly condemned Israel's decision to halt humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. Saudi Arabia called upon the international community to assume responsibility for this grave violation, activate international accountability mechanisms, and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of aid.
Earlier, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, Saudi Arabia condemned Israel's decision to block humanitarian aid to Gaza, coinciding with the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan. The blockade was characterized as an instrument of coercion and collective punishment and a flagrant violation of international law.
This condemnation followed Israel's decision to suspend aid shipments mere hours after the conclusion of the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv.
Israel’s decision to employ starvation as a weapon was made to obstruct the second-stage negotiations, which would have compelled Tel Aviv to cease its genocide in Gaza. Netanyahu's stance also elicited sharp criticism from the families of hostages and Israeli politicians. Yair Golan, leader of the Israeli opposition Democratic Party, accused the Netanyahu government of evading the second-stage negotiations of the agreement.
In a statement, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Kingdom condemns the Israeli government’s decision to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, calling it an act of “blackmail and collective punishment” that violates international law.
