TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong spoke up about the news responding to the false rumors that were attacking him. He felt the need to respond to the spread of false stories surrounding his dismissal as head coach of the Indonesian National Team.
Before posting the denial on his official Instagram account @shintaeyong7777, STY began by greeting Indonesian football fans and recalling the fans who accompanied him on his return to the airport.
"Hello everyone, I have returned safely to Korea and enjoyed a pleasant Chinese New Year holiday thanks to the support of Indonesian fans. I still remember the hospitality I received at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta," said Shin Tae-yong.
"I returned without commenting because I love Indonesia and Indonesian football. However, some Indonesian media are still spreading false news," he said.
Shin Tae-yong added, "I want to emphasize once again that none of the rumors circulating right now are true. If this situation continues, then next time it will not end this easily."
"Finally, I want to ask those who attack me with false stories. Is your goal to destroy the honor that Indonesian football and I have achieved? Will that help Indonesian football," said the 54-year-old coach.
Claims of the Football Institute and Drone Emprit
Previously, Football Institute founder Budi Setiawan suspected that Shin Tae-yong used a buzzer or buzzer from the drone emprit findings on social media. The Football Institute analyzed that there were bot accounts organized to voice support for STY who was fired by PSSI on January 6.
"From this research, it is proven that the hashtag #STYstay uses a buzzer. The results of this research are almost the same as the Football Institute research which stated that there were other interests outside of football," said Budi on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Budi said there was a certain motive behind the many tweets and support for STY to the point that the climate of football in Indonesia was unhealthy because of the many opinion manipulations. "Even though it has been explained, this is a matter of consideration (dismissal) but it is still crowded, it is suspicious that someone is creating an issue (on social media)," said Budi.
Social media analyst Drone Emprit Slovenia Istiani said that social media discussions were divided into three categories in response to STY's dismissal. First, the pro-Shin Tae-yong narrative category. Second, against Shin Tae-yong. Third, media narratives and info accounts.
Slovenia explained that there were a total of 6,090 articles then 18,156 mentions, and discussed on social media as many as 14,478 mentions regarding the issue of STY's dismissal.
Slovenia highlighted that there was a hashtag #STYstay which was quite massive on social media X. In addition to being tweeted by organic and public accounts, this hashtag was tweeted by bot accounts. Drone Emprit suspects that these bot accounts are organized with the same narrative.
