TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Shin Tae-yong has been sacked from his position as the coach of South Korean club Ulsan HD FC. The dismissal came after a string of poor results achieved by the team under the former head coach of the Indonesian national team.
"Ulsan HD FC has ended their partnership with coach Shin Tae-yong," the club wrote on its social media account on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
The coach, who was previously known as STY, was appointed to lead Ulsan HD in August, replacing Kim Pan-gon, who was fired after failing to secure any victories in 10 matches. But the condition did not improve under Shin Tae-yong's leadership.
The team only clinched two victories in ten games. Four of them ended in draws, while Ulsan HD had to cede defeat for the rest.
The team secured their victories by defeating Jeju SK 1-0 in the K League 1 on August 9 and a 2-1 win over Chengdu Rongcheng in the AFC Champions League on September 17.
"Thank you to coach Shin Tae-yong for your hard work for the team, and we will support your future endeavors," the club stated.
The poor results have left Ulsan HD stranded in 10th position with 37 points from 32 matches. They only managed to achieve nine victories, while the remaining 10 matches ended in draws and 13 in defeats.
In terms of goal productivity, Shin's team also struggled to breach the opponent's goal. His team only scored 10 goals and conceded 16 goals.
