2. Indonesia Turns to Old Tax System After Troubles with New Software
Indonesia's tax office is allowing taxpayers to use its old online system while it tries to fix a new system launched this year that has crashed and glitched, with users complaining of disruption to business operations.
The upgrade, called "core tax", was launched on Jan. 1, intended to improve taxpayer profiles and compliance oversight, but it has been mired by issues like data mismatches, crashing, and other problems.
3. Army Chief Denies TNI Dual Function in Prabowo's Administration
Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak has denied claims that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) are exercising a dual function (dwifungsi) within President Prabowo Subianto's administration. He emphasized that the concept of TNI's dual function was a feature of Soeharto's era and no longer applies today.
"The idea of dwifungsi is long gone. Back then, the military could even hold regional leadership positions. But now, with direct democratic elections, where does dwifungsi even fit?" Maruli said at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, February 13.
