TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Students from the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Law at Trisakti University are set to hold a protest at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Central Jakarta on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 01:30 PM local time.
The students are raising three main demands: restoring economic and political conditions, addressing government incompetence, and strengthening civilian supremacy.
According to a post on BEM FH Trisakti’s Instagram account (@bem.fh.usakti), the group is inviting members of the public to join the protest under the theme “Indonesia in Emergency: United Citizens Sue.”
“As a form of active participation in monitoring the direction of state policies and upholding the values of democracy, justice, and civil supremacy,” BEM FH Trisakti wrote in the post, as quoted on Friday, June 19.
The student group said Indonesia’s economic situation continues to face challenges. They also criticized the government’s free nutritious meal program, citing issues including reported food poisoning cases and alleged corruption.
BEM FH Trisakti also raised concerns over the involvement of individuals with military backgrounds in civilian positions, arguing that the development undermines the principles of the 1998 Reform Movement.
“The government should prioritize civilian supremacy as the foundation of democracy, rather than allowing the boundaries between civilian and military spaces to become increasingly blurred,” the group said.
The students called on the government to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its policies, demanding a process that is transparent and accountable.
Other Demands
In addition to the three main demands, BEM FH Trisakti listed several other requests:
Reduce prices of basic necessities
Lower fuel prices and improve the availability of subsidized fuel
Stop state budget waste
Temporarily suspend and conduct a full evaluation of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program
Improve government communication with the public
Reject the Police Bill
Release all political prisoners
Stop the decline of public officials’ performance and halt militarization in civilian areas in Eastern Indonesia
Reject National Strategic Projects (PSN) that are considered not pro-people.
