TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received praise from US President Donald Trump at the Gaza Peace Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday, October 13, 2025. Trump called Prabowo an extraordinary figure.
"Thank you very much. We also have President Prabowo, a truly extraordinary man from Indonesia," Trump said to Prabowo, glancing to his right, as quoted by the president's official press team, Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Prabowo then approached Trump, approaching the podium, and the two shook hands. At the same time, Trump praised Prabowo's excellent performance.
"President, great job," Trump said.
Previously, Trump had signed a document establishing a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, witnessed by Prabowo and other world leaders. Trump said the signed document set out many comprehensive regulations.
The document was also signed by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that Indonesia had accepted an invitation to the Gaza peace summit on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
"The invitation requests President Prabowo's attendance because it is part of the ongoing negotiations, which, God willing, will hopefully bring peace to Palestine, especially in Gaza," Prasetyo said after a meeting at Prabowo's residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, on October 12, 2025.
Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo had urged all parties to maintain good relations, and for that reason, he decided to attend the invitation.
