TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (TNBTS) will close two access routes to Mount Bromo from Malang Regency and Pasuruan Regency, East Java, from September 30 to October 1, 2025. The closure is carried out to support the ramp check for tourist jeeps.
The announcement of the closure of two access routes to Mount Bromo has been officially released by the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office through Announcement Letter Number PG.13/T.8/BIDTEK/HMS.01.08/B/09/2025.
"The TNBTS area is closed for tourist activities from two entrance gates, namely Jemplang in Malang Regency and Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency. This is to support the agenda of conducting ramp checks on tourist jeeps," said the Head of TNBTS, Rudijanta Tjhaja Nugraha, in Malang City, East Java, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Due to the closure of access routes from the Malang and Pasuruan regencies, tourists can only enter Mount Bromo through the Probolinggo regency in East Java for a limited time.
The decision was made after an agreement in a coordination meeting with the Police, the local Transportation Agency (Dishub), and relevant parties. After the agreement, the Dishub of Malang Regency and the Dishub of Pasuruan Regency both issued implementation letters and requests for support for ramp checks.
Inspection of 880 Tourist Jeeps
The Public Relations Officer of TNBTS, Endrip Wahyutama, stated that the total number of tourist jeeps to undergo inspection is around 880 units. "There are approximately 520 jeeps from the association in Malang and 360 jeeps in Pasuruan," said Endrip.
Endrip stated that the purpose of ramp checks is to ensure that tourist jeeps operating in the Mount Bromo area meet safety and comfort standards.
If the inspection results show that the tourist jeeps do not meet the specifications, they will not be allowed to operate as tourist transportation in the TNBTS area until they are improved according to the technical recommendations of the relevant Dishub.
He emphasized that every tourist jeep in the TNBTS area must obtain an operational fitness certificate. "So, for vehicles that are not yet fit for operation, they must undergo ramp checks again at a later date independently," he said.
