TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The escalating tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran show little sign of easing. In response to the large-scale airstrikes in late February that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and several officials, Tehran has launched counterattacks on multiple U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
According to the Palestine Chronicle, U.S. military facilities stretch from the Persian Gulf to the Eastern Mediterranean. In total, around 40,000 to 50,000 personnel are stationed across roughly 10 countries in the region.
Of this network, Iran has reportedly struck about 14 facilities, including the region’s largest U.S. base, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Tehran has used ballistic missiles and drones in its attacks on the U.S. assets, with many operating under a self-imposed range of 2,000 km (1,240 miles), as reported by The Independent.
Aside from U.S. military bases in the Middle East, Iran has also targeted other U.S. assets, including naval facilities in Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
