TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has been ranked among the top 100 universities in Asia according to the QS or Quacquarelli Symonds ranking. The campus located in Jatinangor, Sumedang, Indonesia, is ranked 96th in the QS Asia University Rankings (AUR) 2026 announced on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. "This is the first time Unpad has successfully entered the Top 100 in Asia," said Unpad Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita in a statement on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

According to the ranking, Unpad is also ranked 6th among national universities. Arief stated that they have been focusing on the development of knowledge and the usefulness of Unpad for the community. He considers the ranking from the London-based university assessment agency as a bonus or an impact of what has been done by the students, lecturers, educational staff, alumni, and Unpad's partners.

According to Unpad's website, in the past 6 years, its ranking in the QS AUR has been continuously improving. In QS AUR 2021, Unpad was ranked 238th, then steadily rose to 192nd in 2022, 160th in 2024, and 134th in 2025.

This year, QS AUR evaluated 1,526 universities in Asia, with 91 of them being Indonesian universities. The evaluation for the QS AUR ranking is based on 11 indicators with different weight values, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, paper citation, faculty papers per faculty, number of staff with PhD, international faculty ratio, international student presence, inbound student exchange, and outbound student exchange.

Head of Strategic Development and University Reputation at Unpad, Mohamad Fahmi, stated that being listed among the top 100 universities in Asia is the result of the consistency of the entire academic community in strengthening academic reputation, research, and global collaboration.

"This year, the academic reputation and international research network indicators at Unpad experienced the most significant improvement," he said. He added that the achievement is not just a ranking figure but a reflection of the right direction towards a world-class university that is beneficial to the community.
