TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A member of the US Congress from the Democratic Party, Al Green, revealed his plans to file for impeachment against President of the United States, Donald Trump within 30 days. According to him, Trump is not fit to hold the office of president.
"We need a Senate that will truly punish him this time. And I want you to know, from the depths of my heart, I understand that he is a Goliath figure. He is a Goliath," Green said in his speech during a rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday as quoted by Antara.
"He (Trump) controls the military generals, he controls the Department of Justice, and he also dominates the Republican Party. However, my friends, for every Goliath, there is always a David," Green added.
"I want you to know, Mr. President, that this David will file articles of impeachment against you in the next 30 days. Within 30 days, I will bring impeachment articles. I will pursue you. Mr. President, this David will pursue you," he said.
This is not the first time Green has attempted to impeach Trump. Previously, he had filed three similar attempts during Trump's first term in office from 2016 to 2020, all of which failed.
On Saturday, thousands of people in various cities in the United States held protest actions against Trump and his populist policies known by the slogan "Make America Great Again."
Many protesters carried signs that read "Hands Off!" as a form of rejection of various controversial Trump policies.
