TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The United States is exploring opportunities for cooperation in the maritime sector with Indonesia through a Maritime Security and Technology Trade Mission visit to Jakarta and Surabaya on April 27–29, 2026.

The Trade Section of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta facilitated the first trade visit focused specifically on Indonesia's maritime sector. The mission reflects the two countries' strengthening partnership in maritime infrastructure and technology.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, as quoted by ANTARA,  the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta said it is a pleasure to bring together leading U.S. companies in maritime technology and security with partners in Indonesia to advance shared priorities, according to Charge d’Affaires Peter M. Haymond.

During their visit to Jakarta, the U.S. delegation met with several stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Defense, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Danantara Indonesia, and the Indonesian Navy.

The agenda includes exploring business opportunities with local companies, visiting Tanjung Priok Port, and hosting a networking reception that brings together government officials, maritime associations, state-owned enterprises, and private-sector representatives.

While in Surabaya, the delegation attended a briefing session at the U.S. Consulate General, toured Tanjung Perak Port, and met with Indonesian Navy leaders.

Haymond emphasized the United States' commitment to providing innovative, high-quality solutions and to partnering with Indonesia to promote a secure, resilient, and forward-looking maritime sector. The U.S. delegation included several maritime technology companies exploring collaboration opportunities to support Indonesia's growing maritime economy.

Indonesia was chosen as the next destination after the Singapore Maritime Week trade mission.
