TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Passengers of economic and executive class seats in Yogyakarta train station were surprised with seat upgrades on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025.
Operational Region (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta celebrates Valentine's Day by upgrading the seats of economic class passengers to executive class, and in turn, executive class passengers to luxury class.
"This activity is part of the Valentrain program held by KAI Daop 6 to provide a pleasant and memorable experience for customers," said Public Relations Manager of Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Krisbiyantoro, on Friday, February 14, 2025.
There were 10 economic class passengers who had their seats upgraded to executive, while 2 executive class seats were upgraded to luxury class. The lucky passengers were onboard the Sancaka, Fajar Utama Yogyakarta, and Argo Lawu trains.

Officers randomly picked the passengers to be gifted the free seat upgrade, but some couples were also welcome to participate in Love Quiz for some door prizes. "Couples who participated in the Love Quiz had to answer questions, and those who answered the most queries received a love letter from a handsome prince containing interesting souvenirs and door prizes,” he said, adding that couples who lost were still gifted consolation prizes.
Abor and Triya, who had their train seats upgraded from executive to luxury class on the Argo Lawu car, were utterly delighted. “We are surprised and shocked to receive the seat upgrade, especially to a luxury one,” said Triya.
A foreigner, Martina Drapelova, also received the seat upgrade from an economic seat to an executive class onboard the Sancaka train. "This is my second time using Indonesian railways, I’m very grateful for the opportunity,” said Drapelova.
In addition to upgrading seat classes and inviting customers to play the Love Quiz, KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta also shared interesting souvenir bouquets, chocolates, and roses with customers whose birthdays coincide with Valentine's Day. "This is truly extraordinary. I really appreciate it and did not expect to receive this gift. This is an exceptional service. KAI continues to progress in serving its customers," said Ndari, who received a bouquet from KAI on her birthday.
Krisbiyantoro added that events like Valentrain manifest the Indonesian railway company’s commitment to providing the best services for its users. "Through various appreciation activities like this, we hope to enhance the love of passengers for train services and provide a positive and deep impression," Krisbiyantoro concluded.
