TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Valentino Rossi wants to be more involved and appear in more MotoGP races in 2025. He will reduce his activities in car racing and accompany the racers from his academy more often.
The MotoGP legend retired three years ago and has since started his career as a four-wheeled racer, although he still occasionally appears to give encouragement to the teams and racers in MotoGP.
"I regret not being so present at the races (in 2024), and I have less time to work with the riders in our academy," Rossi was quoted as saying by Motorsport and Crash, Thursday.
"In 2025 I want to be more present at MotoGP races, so I will also do less car racing for that reason," he added.
One of the strong reasons for the nine-time world champion to be able to appear more often in MotoGP this year is thought to be due to the takeover of MotoGP by Liberty Media which has recently begun to emerge.
However, Rossi himself still has close relationships with key players in MotoGP today.
Like two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia who is a graduate of the VR46 Academy and is Rossi's first protégé to win the MotoGP title.
Bagnaia will join the Ducati factory team this year with Marc Marquez, Rossi's old rival.
Of course, with Rossi's protégé and Rossi's enemy competing on the same team and riding the best motorbike on the grid, it will be an interesting spectacle this year.
On the other hand, the VR46 team owned by “The Doctor” is also undergoing major changes. After Pramac left as a Ducati satellite team, VR46 will now receive more preferential treatment.
They will have access to one factory-spec bike, so Fabio Di Giannantonio will have the same engine as Bagnaia and Marquez.
Franco Morbidelli, another VR46 Academy graduate, will join the team as Di Giannantonio’s teammate.
Marco Bezzecchi will leave VR46 to join Aprilia, becoming a factory team rider for the first time.
Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi’s younger brother, Luca Marini, is entering his second season in MotoGP as a factory Honda rider.
