TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2026 World Cup is heating up, as more and more celebrated teams and star players get knocked out of the grandest football tournament.
But amidst fans' despair, and in turn, euphoria for the teams advancing to the quarterfinals, anticipation mounts for the historic debut of the FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show.
When Will the 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show Take Place?
According to FIFA, the Super Bowl-like halftime show will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) in East Rutherford, New Jersey. While performance times for the show have yet to be announced, it is known that the World Cup final face-off is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time.
Why a Halftime Show?
As baffling as the halftime show has found football fans worldwide, it is not made without charitable reasons. The football association is joining hands with Global Citizen, an international education and advocacy organization.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise US$100 million to "expand access to education and football programs for children around the world," as quoted from Sports Illustrated.
In a commitment to the initiative, US$1 from every ticket sold to FIFA World Cup matches contributed to the funds. Thus far, Over US$50 million has already been raised, and momentum is continuing to build.
Who Will Perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show?
FIFA and Global Citizen have announced the lineup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, with the confirmed performers as follows:
- Shakira
- Madonna
- Burna Boy
- BTS
- Justin Bieber
- Gustavo Dudamel
- PS22 Chorus
Justin Bieber was the newest announced, joining BTS, Shakira, and Madonna as co-headliners.
Citing beIN SPORTS, the 11-minute production will be curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, who will join other members of his band to perform with Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and PS22 Chorus—a choir of elementary school students based in Staten Island, New York.
The halftime show will also feature characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets, whose inclusion reinforces the event's purpose to ensure quality education for children worldwide.
