Indiana Fever star Lexie Hull shared some heartbreaking personal news earlier this week.

Hull, the teammate of Caitlin Clark, announced the devastating death of her 14-year-old dog, Maggie.

On Wednesday - the same day as the Fever's humiliating defeat to the Golden State Valkyries - the 25-year-old posted an emotional statement on Instagram.

'14 years with the sweetest mags! home won't be the same without you! heaven got the best girl this week,' she wrote.

The guard also shared a series of black-and-white photos of her beloved canine, showing Maggie snuggling up to a young Hull as a puppy, playing around on the bed and soaking up the sun.

Her comments were flooded with messages of support and prayers from the WNBA community, including her Fever teammates.

'Love you,' Clark began adding a heart emoji, 'doggie heaven.'

'nooooo Lex, I'm sorry,' wrote Sophie Cunningham, while Kelsey Mitchell added: 'I'm sorry, sexy lexi.'

'Awww sorry Lex,' penned Aliyah Boston.

Fans also shared multiple heart and praying hands emojis in the comments as they shared their wishes to the WNBA star.

The heartbreaking news comes after a rough patch for the Fever. After winning the Commissioner's Cup earlier this month, Indiana has won just one of its three games.

Despite Clark's return to the court after a stint on the sidelines with a groin injury, the Fever slumped to an 80-61 defeat to the Valkyries.
