TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 14-year-old teenager from India, Aaryan Shukla, has made history by breaking six mental mathematics world records in one day. This remarkable achievement has earned him the nickname 'Human Calculator' and recognition from Guinness World Records.

As quoted from a report by Live Science, Shukla set these records at an event organized by Guinness in Dubai. He completed various complex calculations faster than most people using a calculator. His records include:

- Adding 100 four-digit numbers in his mind - 30.9 seconds

- Adding 200 four-digit numbers in his mind - 1 minute 9.68 seconds

- Adding 50 five-digit numbers in his mind - 18.71 seconds

- Multiplying two five-digit numbers in 10 sets in his mind - 51.69 seconds

- Multiplying two eight-digit numbers in 10 sets in his mind - 2 minutes 35.41 seconds

- Dividing 10 20-digit numbers by 10 10-digit numbers in his mind - 5 minutes 42 seconds

Shukla revealed that rigorous practice was the key to his success in breaking these records. "Daily practice is an important aspect of competition preparation, so I practiced around five to six hours every day," he said in an interview, quoted from The Economic Times, Sunday, February 23, 2025. He also mentioned Sahaja Yoga as a method that helped him stay focused and calm when facing complex calculations.

His father emphasized that Shukla's extraordinary ability was not an inherited talent from their family. "We are an ordinary family. Aaryan is one in a million, but I don't think we are a family with a talent for mental calculation," he told Guinness.

In addition to his math abilities, Shukla also enjoys hobbies such as reading adventure and mystery books, playing video games, and cricket. The records he broke can be viewed in a video available on the official Guinness World Records website.

Shukla's success adds to the long list of talented young individuals worldwide who excel in the field of mathematics. Previously, in 2022, two high school students from the United States, Ne'Kiya Jackson and Calcea Johnson, successfully found new evidence for the Pythagorean Theorem using trigonometry-something previously considered impossible by mathematicians.
