TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) attended the continued ethics hearing against members of the National Police who were suspected of extorting concertgoers of the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP 2024). The Code of Ethics Commission hearing was held at the TNCC Building, National Police Headquarters, Thursday, January 2, 2025.

"Today, three people (will undergo an ethics hearing). Two are new and one is continuing yesterday's process. So all of these processes are still ongoing," said Kompolnas Commissioner Choirul Anam at the TNCC Building, National Police Headquarters.

One of the three police officers undergoing an ethics hearing today is Head of Sub-Directorate 3, Directorate of Drug Investigation, Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Malvino Edward. "The Head of Sub-Directorate is continuing yesterday's, initials M (Malvino). Then (today's ethics hearing) also targets the lower structure, all of them," said Anam.

Anam explained that everything is still ongoing. He stated that only two people had been dismissed from the police due to the extortion. "As of today, two have been decided. "The Director and the Unit Head with the PTDH decision and they are appealing," said Anam.

Anam did not reveal who the Director and Unit Head were. However, referring to a previous Tempo report, the Director in question is the Director of Drugs at the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Donald Parlaungan Simanjuntak. Donald underwent an ethics hearing on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Previously, the Head of the Propam Division of the National Police, Inspector General Abdul Karim, explained that 18 members of the National Police consisting of personnel from the Jakarta Metro Police, Central Jakarta Police, and Kemayoran Police were proven to have violated the code of ethics. They are suspected of extorting 45 Malaysian citizens when they were about to attend the DWP music concert in Indonesia.

The police on duty in the drug investigation conducted random urine tests on the audience, then they threatened to detain the person if they did not pay the ransom. Both those who tested positive for drug use and those who did not. According to Abdul Karim, the amount of the ransom varies.

"A total of 45 Malaysian citizens were victims of extortion with the value of the evidence secured amounting to Rp2.5 billion," he said at the National Police Headquarters Building, Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
