TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rains that have been pounding Jakarta and surrounding areas since Thursday, January 22, 2026, have triggered flooding in several areas. The impact has not only inundated residential areas but also disrupted residents' mobility and public transportation services.
Here is a summary of key facts about the Jakarta-Bekasi flooding:
1. Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Records 90 Neighborhood Associations (RTs) Still Flooded
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that 90 neighborhood associations (RTs) and 9 roads were still flooded as of Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The most affected area is West Jakarta, with 51 RTs inundated across 11 urban villages, including Duri Kosambi, Rawa Buaya, Kapuk, and Kedaung Kali Angke.
The water level in some areas reached 120 centimeters due to the heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers of the Angke, Ciliwung, and Pesanggrahan rivers.
2. Highest Inundation Reaches 2.5 Meters in East Jakarta
In East Jakarta, flooding inundated 25 neighborhood units (RT), with the worst-hit areas being the Cawang and Cililitan sub-districts. Water levels in these areas ranged from 80 to 250 centimeters. Meanwhile, South Jakarta recorded flooding in 7 neighborhood units, with the highest inundation exceeding 2 meters in the Pejaten Timur sub-district.
North Jakarta was also affected, with 7 neighborhood units submerged in the Kapuk Muara sub-district, while Central Jakarta has not reported any flooding.
3. Bekasi: 9 Districts Inundated, Water Levels Reach 150 Centimeters
Flooding also spread to Bekasi City. The Bekasi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded nine districts affected by flooding on Friday, January 23, 2026. The worst-affected area was the Jatibening Permai Housing Complex in the Pondok Gede sub-district, with water levels reaching 150 centimeters.
In addition, flooding inundated the Rawalumbu, Jati Asih, North Bekasi, West Bekasi, and Medan Satria areas. One house was reportedly damaged due to a roof collapse in the Abang Rorotan River.
4. Elderly Evacuated and Residents Urged to Remain Vigilant
The Bekasi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) evacuated two elderly residents in East Bekasi District due to flooding. Although the waters have begun to recede, residents are advised not to cross deep water and to remain vigilant for potential further rain.
In Jakarta, the BPBD also deployed personnel to monitor the floodwaters and urged residents to immediately call 112 in case of an emergency.
5. Floods Disrupt Transjakarta Bus Services
The floods also impacted public transportation services. PT Transjakarta diverted, shortened, and temporarily suspended several bus routes on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Some of the affected corridors and routes included Corridors 3, 3F, 2A, and 4, as well as several Mikrotrans services in West Jakarta and South Jakarta.
In addition to flooding, route adjustments are also affected by infrastructure projects on several roads. Transjakarta stated that it continues to coordinate with the public to ensure services can return to normal as the floodwaters recede.
