TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Traveling during the Eid homecoming can lead to muscle fatigue, leaving your body sore and draining your energy for work. In addition to staying well hydrated, here are seven simple ways to relieve body aches at home so you can get back to your activities feeling refreshed. Let's check them out!
1. Get Quality Sleep
Sleeping after traveling home is the easiest way to rest and help your body heal itself, one of which is relieving aches and pains. Furthermore, your immune system will be more resilient, so minor health problems like colds and fatigue from traveling home can disappear with adequate sleep.
2. Take a Warm Bath
A warm bath can relieve muscle aches and pains. This is because the warm water's temperature, which penetrates the skin, is believed to relieve muscle tension and pressure.
Try soaking in a warm bath for 20 minutes in the morning or evening to prevent catching a cold.
3. Adjust Room Temperature
It's undeniable that the temperature during your trip home and where you live can be very different. Start by adjusting the room temperature from cool air conditioning to a warmer room temperature, as this is believed to naturally warm the body.
This simple step can reduce pain and inflammation caused by temperature changes during the Eid homecoming period.
4. Stretch Your Muscles
One of the simplest ways to relieve body aches and restore muscle health is by stretching. If you're unsure about the movements, you can check out the YouTube channels BodyFit by Bagus and 2Nine Fit Indonesia.
Cantika recommends stretching because it's a quick 5-10 minute session, making it suitable for beginners and improving flexibility after the Eid homecoming.
Do these exercises anywhere, and be sure to move slowly to avoid aggravating aches, pains, and soreness.
5. Herbal Drinks
Prolonged travel can drain your mental and physical energy. That's why you should pay attention to your body's signals to determine if it needs an energy boost.
You can give yourself herbal drinks to relieve aches and pains. Try making a warm herbal concoction made from ginger, lemon, turmeric, cinnamon, and chamomile.
6. Massage
Besides self-massage at home, you can also invite a family member to help massage you. However, there are certain parts of the body that should not be massaged, such as the spine, from the neck to the tailbone. This can cause bone displacement and pinched nerves.
7. Use Pain Reliever
If that doesn't work, you can take a pain reliever containing paracetamol to relieve aches and pains caused by the Eid homecoming trip. This active ingredient is believed to be a safe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Paracetamol works well at the receptors or sensory nerves.
These areas are where inflammatory stimuli, pain, and soreness occur. However, these medications are not recommended for long-term use.
