TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Whoosh high-speed train records 6.06 million tickets sold throughout 2024, with 83 percent, or around 5 million, sold through digital channels. The remaining million were sold directly at the stations.
General Manager Corporate Secretary of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Eva Chairunisa, expressed her appreciation to the public who have switched to using digital technology for ticket purchases.
“Through online purchases, passengers can buy tickets anytime and anywhere without queueing at the station,” Eva said in her official statement quoted on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The Whoosh app remains users’ favorite to book a ticket to the high-speed rail, contributing to over 2.5 million tickets, or 42 percent, of total sales. Meanwhile, over 1.7 million Whoosh tickets were sold through sales partners, 541 thousand tickets through the ticket.kcic.co.id website, while over 190 thousand are sold through ticket vending machines (TVM).
By purchasing Whoosh tickets online, KCIC offers users some benefits and flexibility, including digital rescheduling and cancellation of tickets up to two hours before departure, with a same-day refund available.
In addition, the environmentally friendly QR code-based ticketing service reduces the use of paper and the risk of losing tickets.
“This innovation supports environmental sustainability while reflecting changes in people's behavior that are increasingly adaptive to technology,” Eva said.
Since the start of commercial operations in October 2023, Whoosh tickets are available in the Whoosh app, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, and a number of partner applications such as Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, Brimo, and Wondr by BNI. In November 2024, KCIC added sales channels by partnering with Tiket.com, expanding public access to online tickets.
